There are many quilting projects ‘out there’ to which you can apply the big stitch hand quilting technique. You don’t really need any more instructions other than the tutorials published in the previous QUILTsocial posts: Needles and Thread Make All the Difference and Big Stitching Basics. Once you know the basics apply them liberally everywhere using seams, dots or elements on printed fabrics as your guide.
For this last installment of Big Stitching, here’s a more complex pattern where the half square triangles used to make the zigzag pattern becomes the guide for hand quilting big stitches.
Using Coats Bold Hand Quilting Thread will facilitate your quilting experience, gliding through easily all the layers of fabric with little effort on your hand. Remember? 17 great colors to choose from!
Here’s what designer Doris Rushing has to say about her Chevron Pillow:
“Bold hand quilting stitches accent the chevron design in this simple and elegant pillow.”
The Chevron Pillow can be downloaded as a free pattern on the Coats website. You’ll find this pattern very easy to hand quilt.
Big stitches isn’t only trendy, it’s fast once you practiced a little and doesn’t take too long to catch on to the rhythm. Just remember the Big Stitches Basics covered earlier and you’ll be all set to make them in every quilting project you come across. Let Coats Bold Hand Quilting Thread help you with the process.
