DIY quilted Christmas ornaments with Bosal Foam Stabilizer by Paul Leger November 29, 2024 written by Paul Leger November 29, 2024 181 Yesterday, with the help of a decorative stitch, I made snowflakes with Gütermann red and green metallic threads. Today, I’m finishing the ornaments. To do so, we’ll need some BOSAL In-R-Form Unique Sew-In Foam Stabilizer – 45.7 x 147.3 cm (18″ x 58″). Bosal In-R-Form Unique Sew-In Foam Stabilizer Yesterday’s last step was to press the HEATNBOND Lite Iron-On Adhesive with the drawn ornament’s shape on the fabric with the decorative stitches. Using my LDH 81⁄2″ Craft Scissors, I cut the shape. Cut the ornament’s shape. When I decided to do this ornament, I knew I’d want something firmer than batting, so the logical choice was some BOSAL In-R-Form Unique Sew-In Foam Stabilizer. I measured the ornament, so I cut a piece of Bosal measuring 6½” x 7” onto which I pressed the ornament into place. Press the ornament on the BOSAL In-R-Form Unique Sew-In Foam Stabilizer. On the back, I also pressed a piece of fabric, which I had already placed a piece of HeatNBond adhesive interfacing. Place a fabric on the back of the ornament. Cut around the ornament’s shape. Cut around the ornament’s shape. One final step is necessary to complete this ornament: finishing the edge. I used Gütermann Cotton 60wt Thread 200m in white to create a satin stitch. Satin stitch edge is applied using Gütermann cotton 60wt white thread. What do you think of this easy-to-make ornament? As mentioned, it can decorate the table during Christmas dinner, or you can make a small hole at the top to hang it on the tree. It’s sturdy enough to be used as a mug rug, and you could also create a larger one to serve as a trivet. Furthermore, it can be placed in a holiday greeting card. I’m sure there are many other creative ideas for using this! The completed ornament I have other clever ideas for decorating handmade ornaments, such as using ELAN Motif – Medium Aqua Snowflake, DRESS IT UP Christmas – Sew Cute Snowmen buttons, Seasonal UNIQUE Rick Rock and yes, trying out new things with Gütermann Metallic Threads. Adorable details make the cutest ornaments! I recommend using these items to create beautiful decorations for Christmas. After moving to Ottawa in 1996, I joined my first guild. I took more courses and began to buy quilting books and lots of fabrics. Quilting has become my passion. I have made over 150 more quilts since then, and have never looked back. I now share my knowledge of quilting by teaching and doing presentations, and blogging! previous post The Wi-Fi capabilities of the Husqvarna VIKING Designer Quartz 29 next post Master easy buttonholes with HV Designer Quartz 29 YOU MAY ALSO LIKE...
