Finish the Seasons Remembered quilt with Odif 505 and Echo Quilting

Yesterday, I demonstrated how beautifully the SCHMETZ Twin Needle – 80/12 – 4.0mm and CLOVER 700/1128 – Quick Bias Tape – ¹⁄₄″ can enhance a quilt.

Today, with the help of Odif 505 Temporary Quilt Basting Adhesive Fabric Spray, we’re getting this quilt ready for quilting, making the process so much easier and more enjoyable!

How to use Odif 505

To baste a quilt, lay the backing fabric flat and smooth with the wrong side up, then lightly spray it with Odif 505 Temporary Quilt Basting Adhesive Fabric Spray. Place the batting on top and smooth it out. Before positioning the quilt top, spray a light layer of Odif 505 onto the batting as well, then carefully align the quilt top right side up. Starting from the center and working outward, gently press the layers together. The goal is to keep everything smooth, secure, and perfectly in place so nothing shifts while you quilt.

With the quilt basted, it’s finally time to start quilting! One of my favorite quilting methods is echo quilting, which creates clean, beautiful parallel lines that add texture and movement to the piece.

I really love how the quilt turned out! Now that it’s completed, I find myself wishing I hadn’t given away my novelty fabrics—imagine how much fun it would be to add little details to the scene. A few trees, a couple of houses, a horse in the field, or even a tiny car on the road… the possibilities are truly endless!

In the past few years, I created two other landscape quilts. This one, titled “If Monet Were a Quilter,” was made in July 2017 as part of a QUILTsocial post. I was challenged to use all kinds of rulers to construct the quilt, and it was such a fun, creative exercise. I hope everyone recognized it as a beach sunset!

Another quilt using this technique is when I was invited to write a quilt concept for A Needle Pulling Thread magazine. I jumped at the opportunity to participate since I absolutely loved the theme, ‘Oceans’. The quilt I created, Come Sail Away Wall Quilt, was featured in Issue 60. The techniques I used to make this quilt are very similar to the ones I’ve shared in this week’s posts; clearly, it’s a technique I really enjoy!
