Spectrum QAL 2020: Riley Blake Designs Blue Stitch

It’s here!

For those who know me, at times, I’m a bit of a procrastinator. I get the work done, but I might be a day late. Was it any surprise when my fabrics for the Spectrum Quilt-A-Long were late?

I love Riley Blake Designs, and I had a lot of trouble choosing which fabric collection to use. I wanted to pick something different from Claire Haillot and Paul Léger’s choices. I finally settled on Blue Stitch by Christopher Thompson, also known as The Tattooed quilter.

As you know, there’s a worldwide pandemic happening, and that caused a few hiccups with the scheduled delivery dates. The folks at Riley Blake Designs were doing what they could to make it happen, but most of the events were out of anyone’s control.

I just had to laugh because it’s so typical of something that would happen to me.

But that’s all in the past. My box of luscious Blue Stitch fabrics has arrived!

Don’t you love the selvage? I want to cut them all off and make something with them. I love how Christopher’s name is his signature. That’s a change from his previous collections. I LOVE it.

I chose a few additional fabrics from Christopher’s Blossom collection (check out his name on the selvage) as not all the fabrics from Blue Stitch were going to arrive in time. And we threw in a couple of the Seasonal Basics by Lori Holt. The Blue Stitch collection is so new that it arrives in stores in October.  Call up your local quilt shop and get your fabrics ordered so you can follow along.

Here’s the entire palette for my version of the Spectrum QAL 2020. It’s gorgeous. Beautiful shades of blue and white, with a whimsical touch. Who doesn’t love a classic blue and white quilt? I can’t wait to get started.

A HUGE thank you to Riley Blake Designs for sponsoring my version of the Spectrum QAL2020 and to the team who tirelessly responded to my question, “Have you received the fabric yet?”. They were great!

Join me tomorrow for the cutting instructions for Block 1.
