IF Odif 909 is permanent, why is it designed for fabric? Hhmm… by Paul Leger July 25, 2024 written by Paul Leger July 25, 2024 119 In yesterday’s post, I showed you how easily Odif Iron Cleaner – Pouch Format 60g can turn a dirty and well-used iron into a polished one. Earlier in the week I talked about Odif 505 and 606 products, but here’s Odif 909 Permanent Fabric Adhesive that adheres permanently, created specifically for fabric. Let me tell you the story. Odif 909 Permanent Fabric Adhesive – Pouch Format 60g. When I work on a project such as foundation paper piecing I like to use my wood TV dinner table, place my UNIQUE QUILTING Wool Pressing Mat – 14″ x 14″ – Grey and OLISO M2Pro Mini Project Iron with Solemate – Orchid and I’m ready to go. The OLISO M2Pro Mini Project Iron on a UNIQUE QUILTING Wool Pressing mat I received several TV dinner tables from a neighbour. One was in pristine condition the other had water stain damage. The stains were an eye-sore so I pulled out my sander and tried cleaning it. The stains now compared to when I received them are 90% better. TV dinner table needs a new look… After sanding the table, I’ve been thinking about the best way to refinish it. Given the chance to try Odif 909 Permanent Fabric Adhesive – Pouch Format 60g, I knew exactly what I wanted to do – recover the table. Applying Odif 909 Odif 909 Permanent Fabric Adhesive is designed for fabrics that are to be glued to cardboard, paper, wood, metal, plastics and many more surfaces. When applying Odif 909 there are choices to the method. Apply Odif 909 on the fabric, on the item that is to be recovered or both. The bond will be stronger if Odif 909 is applied to both surfaces. I tested Odif 909 to see how it would stick before applying the fabric to the table. I applied Odif 909 directly on the table using green fabric. I then applied Odif 909 to the grey fabric. Once both fabrics were on the table I waited 20 minutes before checking the results. See the video it’s obvious that both methods worked very well. After I placed the Odif 909 on a surface I took an old hotel room key to spread the glue as I didn’t want globs of 909. Note: I tested it on cotton fabric. The Odif 909 did not penetrate the fabric, it stayed on the wrong side of the fabric. If it was not for a slight stiffness to the fabric where it was applied, I would not have been able to detect where it was applied. Spreading Odif 909 Permanent Fabric Adhesive evenly. Having applied Odif 909 to the fabric, I carefully placed it on the TV dinner table. I must say, the result is pretty cool. When I looked at the photo for a second it looked like a marble-top table. I should do the 2nd table I have to have a matching set. A new look for this TV dinner table. This ends today’s post but here are other ideas on what to use Odif 909 for. Remember this can be used on so many surfaces. A box with a theme fabric could make a nice box for a gift. A plain notebook could have a new appeal with a new fabric wrapping. There are many creative ideas to explore with a little Odif 909 and fabric. Give it a try. Join me tomorrow, I’ll show you what I’ve done with another Odif product, Odicoat!
