Meet the Husqvarna VIKING Jade 20 – sleek, smart, and built to impress by Elaine Theriault March 24, 2025 written by Elaine Theriault March 24, 2025 11 It’s so exciting to be back, and I’m looking at a unique sewing machine this week. Wait until you see the Husqvarna VIKING Jade 20 design – a sewing-only machine. Doesn’t it already look interesting based on what you see on the box? Husqvarna VIKING Jade 20 It was quick to unpack the Jade 20, which I love. I set the sewing machine on the table, and WOW — this is a very unique design. It looks so sleek and modern that you can easily put it on your bookcase when you’re not sewing, and no one would ever know it’s a sewing machine. You could be a closet sewist! The Jade 20 with the storage box attached Here’s what it looks like from the back. It still looks sleek and compact, but I prefer the front. From this view, we can identify that it’s a sewing machine. Intrigued? Read on! The back of the Jade 20 To open it up, you rotate the dial to the left to unlock that middle section and push it forward. Removing the storage box on the Jade 20 That unit in the center is a STORAGE BOX. How clever is that? Look how big that storage box is; it has two compartments. The Jade 20 accessories are in the compartment on the right-hand side. Now, what could we store in that other larger compartment? The inside of the storage box It’s the perfect spot for the power cord and the foot pedal! OK – you cannot deny that this is a brilliant storage system. This design provides built-in storage and doubles as a hard case to protect the machine when traveling to quilt retreats or classes at your local quilt shop, storage at your house, and keeping the dust from infiltrating the sewing machine. Because of its smaller footprint, it’ll easily fit on a shelf when not in use. Who would guess it’s a sewing machine? Store the foot pedal and power cord in the storage box Here’s a better look at that foot pedal. It’s a good size, so you won’t have issues finding it under the table when sewing. A foot pedal And now that we have the storage box out of the machine, here’s what the Jade 20 looks like. Even when ready to sew, it looks sleek and futuristic! At the end of your sewing session, it would be super easy to pop that storage box back into the middle and put it back on your bookcase. I’m not a fan of putting my machine away every night, but if I didn’t have a lot of space and needed to put it away, I like how easy this one is and how sleek it looks when closed up! The Jade 20 with the storage box removed The lid pops up to reveal the thread path, a sewing guide, the built-in stitches menu, the thread path, and much more. We’re taking a closer look at that tomorrow. The flip-up lid on the Jade 20 Of course, my favorite thing in the box is the User’s Guide! I swear I’m the only one who gets excited about a User’s Guide, but I’ve learned so much from reading them. I had a quick peek this morning, and I have a few things I want to highlight, but I’ll get into detail tomorrow. The User’s Guide As we go through the User’s Guide, we’ll also have a closer look at the accessories that come with the Jade 20. The bag of accessories Isn’t this a super exciting sewing machine? Yep – the Husqvarna VIKING Jade 20 looks like a perfect machine for a student, a second machine for retreats/travel, or someone who has downsized and no longer has a dedicated sewing spot. Let’s not forget new sewists. The Jade 20 sewing machine is sure to be coveted by many different groups. Be sure to come back tomorrow as we explore the features and accessories. Then, I’ll put it to the test for the remainder of the week as I find various projects to work on. Have a great day! Ciao!
