What You Can Do with the creativate app + the PFAFF creative elevate 680 by Margaret Sweete March 5, 2026 written by Margaret Sweete March 5, 2026 1 Yesterday, I talked about Circular Attachment Techniques and one of the preloaded signature circular designs on the PFAFF creative elevate 680. I went over the Specialty Technique Stitches preloaded in Menu 8, the techniques for this machine. I also played with optional feet and the related, preloaded stitches in Menu 9, Additional, and how you could use the PFAFF Circular Attachment. Today I’m walking you through the free creativate app for Apple iPad and /or Android tablet (9” or bigger). Specifically, the newest feature is the (Free) “Embroidery Tablet Editor” Software. Note: If you think of “creativate” as a brand name, it will help you understand this post. The creativate home screen, a free app for iPhone/Android, iPad, and Android tablet. If you must pay, you’ve landed on the wrong app. How to work the creativate app If you’re new to sewing and/or embroidery, consider downloading the FREE creativate app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices. To get started, create a free account using your email as your username and choose a password you’ll remember. You can download the app from your device’s app store or directly from the creativate website. After you sign in, you will be asked to choose your machine. You are not registering a machine; either choose your PFAFF (or Husqvarna Viking, or SINGER) machine or lie and choose whatever machine you wish! I always go for the top-of-the-line in my brand, wishful thinking? You can change this later or add more than one. When you’re finished working through the opening screens, the app will open on the Home Screen, shown below. Note: In reality, this is a Free Learning/Help System available to all. So even if you don’t own a PFAFF yet, you can use this app for assistance. Feel free to download this and explore as you read along. Apple iPad with the creativate app open to the home screen Exploring creativate At the bottom row, you’ll find links that allow you to go directly to the Design Catalogue (you may need to sign in again), your Vault, and Fabric Stash. The Fabric Stash in this app’s Quilting Software lets you add pictures of your own fabrics, enabling you to customize your quilt designs. The middle row contains links to the creativate quilting software and the creativate crafting software for the SINGER 24” MOMENTO Cutting Machine. It also includes links to the Sewing Assistant, which provides access to your machine’s manual, design sampler, and learning center (think of it as a help center with tutorials). Lastly, we have the Embroidery section, which I have saved for last because we will be spending more time there. Notes: I’ll say that not all current sewing/embroidery machines are complete here, but they will be. Your Android tablet screen needs to be 9” larger, for the creativate app embroidery Tablet Editor Software to show up and work. If you click on the embroidery link, it will take you to the welcome screen shown below. On the left side, you will find various links. At the bottom, there is an option to return to the home screen. The middle four links include “Design Placement” (which may not be available for this machine; we will confirm once it goes live), “QR Code Creator” for Elite Members, and “Monitor,” where you can track the progress of your machine while embroidering, including thread changes and bobbin change notifications. Additionally, at the bottom, there is “Photo Designer,” which is useful for creating quilting designs. The three icons at the top left are for finding a design either on the device (top icon), from the Vault, or from the Catalogue. Note: A design can be saved in a drive or Dropbox on your device. Why all of this? Well, take a look at the central screen as you enter the FREE creativate app, an Embroidery Tablet Editor software available on your Apple iPad (or Android tablet). It features an extremely new layout! At the top, you can preselect a hoop or choose one later. The middle row of pink boxes contains links to lessons on the creativate app’s embroidery software, which can help you learn its features. I highly recommend reading these lessons, as they will be very helpful! You can also email them to yourself if you wish to save or print them. Below that section, you’ll find projects I’ve been experimenting with, which I can access directly. If you look closely, you’ll even see my next embroidery design/project that I’m planning to work on. Why all of this? Well, look at the central screen as you enter the FREE creativate app, an Embroidery Tablet Editor software available on your Apple iPad (or Android tablet). It features an extremely new layout! Apple iPad creativate app, embroidery tablet editor software welcome screen In the evenings, I enjoy browsing the web on my iPad to discover what’s new and interesting. I always visit creativate, sign in (since I have a membership), and check for any new designs and projects, which is quite frequent! I own a SINGER MOMENTO 24’ CUTTING MACHINE, so I also look for cutting files, embroidery designs, and other crafting files. If you’re interested, talk to your dealer about creativate memberships! However, if I only want to go through the creativate catalogue, I open the creativate app, tap “Design Catalogue” (it may ask for my username again), and it takes me directly to the catalogue. I do not even have to go online! I stroll through projects and designs, save as favorites, or put the projects/designs I want to use in my vault. If you do not have a membership, you will have access only to the free designs, but you will have vault storage. I will be working with the “Quilted Table Runner Design” used in the “Endless Quilted Table Runner”(Project). The design is available in both places, but the instructions are only available with the project. Both are available in the creativate catalogue. Note: The creativate app embroidery tablet editor software will only open .vp3, .evp3, and .vp4 design formats The Basic (Free) downloadable creativate COMPUTER software will open and save many different formats and can print worksheets. When you download the creativate computer (Apple or Windows) embroidery software, only what your membership level allows will open. For example, if you have a free membership then only the basic/free creativate Computer Software will open. Why is this helpful? What can I use this embroidery software for? I selected my saved design, one of the three options at the bottom left of the screen (they are all identical). The software prompts me with a question asking if I want to open it in the canvas. I tap “Open in Canvas.” When the canvas opens, I can see my design displayed in the selected hoop. To understand the function of each icon, simply touch them, and a pop-up will show the name and function. creativate app embroidery on the iPad showing the editor software work area opened to the Quilted Table Runner design. Note: Under the “View” tab (the eye icon on the right), I selected a grid size of 25mm (equal to 1 inch). I chose a pale grey background color and a slightly darker grey for the grid. Feel free to choose any color combination that you prefer. I can mirror, rotate, combine, recolor, and colorsort designs as well as group, ungroup, rearrange design stitch order in filmstrip and scale. It also has 11 fonts for simple lettering. For shapes or envelopes, visit the creativate basic/free software, which offers a variety of options. Note: Choose “shape or envelope” when you want your text to curve (either convex or concave) around an object. This is the simplest design; in the purchased creativate computer software, there are 35 different shapes available. You can perform all your editing in this work area. To adjust what you see, change thread colors, multiply items, alter the view, or toggle the screen color grid on and off, as well as adjust the grid color and size, go to the “Edit” tab located on the right. When you’re satisfied and ready to embroider, select the last icon on the right top tab, which looks like a sewing machine. From there, you can send your design to your Wi-Fi enabled embroidery machine. In this case, make sure your PFAFF creativate elevate 680 is connected to Wi-Fi and signed in to your creativate account (and, of course, that it’s turned on!). iPad open to the creativate app embroidery tablet editor software work area screen Discovering the PFAFF creative elevate 680 Recap Over the last few days, I explored the PFAFF creative elevate 680: – Used decorative stitches and new specialty feet – Stitched specialty technique stitches – Demonstrated the PFAFF Circular Attachment – Introduced the large optional accessory, the Embroidery Unit – Tried embroidery using a design from the Signature Preloaded designs – Played with the new creativate app Tablet Embroidery Editor Software feature – Showed some of the editing features – Demonstrated the “Send to Machine” feature Join me tomorrow, I’ll be showcasing two projects I’ve been working on: the stitch-outs that transformed into a Square Center Table Quilt and the Endless Quilted Table Runner project from the creativate catalogue that I mentioned today.
