Wool hexagons are the perfect applique for this decorative pillow project by Claire Haillot February 7, 2022 written by Claire Haillot February 7, 2022 326 Welcome back to an exciting week of embroidering and sewing! I’m thrilled to be hosting this blog week and have quite a fun project to present! I’ve tried something totally new with which to begin the year, and really enjoyed the process and final project, so it’s only natural that I share this great find with you. Presenting the beautiful Snow Crystals Hexie Pillow When I finished the Spectrum Quilt-A-Long last fall, I decided to take a journey into wool applique. I contacted Christine Baker, another regular blogger on QUILTsocial, and asked if she could prepare a kit to make a small decorative pillow in colors matching my bed runner and sampler pillow. Here’s what you need for the Snow Crystals Hexie Pillow. It didn’t take too long for the package to arrive at my home and I was just in love with all the beautiful wool fabrics and threads. The kit is based on the Snow Crystals Hexie Pillow pattern Christine designed and is available at Upper Canada Quiltworks. This was the perfect project to stitch by the fireplace at the cottage over the holidays. Embroidering the wool hexagons was easy and relaxing, just what I needed as a quilting project after creating my Ariel art quilt. If you’re in the mood for some meditative slow stitching, then you’re at the right place! I love quilting and slow stitching, and I always look for notions and tools that can make the quilting experience easy. Follow along all week as I show you how I made this stunning pillow using products like UNIQUE Quilting double sided non-stick reusable applique sheet, Oliso Pro TG1600 Pro Plus Smart Iron, and UNIQUE Quilting wool pressing mat 18″ x 24″, just to name a few.
