by Elaine Theriault

Welcome back to 50 ways to keep a quilter (and her family) happy while on vacation. Hopefully you’re able to work a couple of these tips into your schedule. Vacation should be a happy time for all involved and of course flexibility is a big factor.

Enjoy the tips today and there’s another great quilt shop to check out.

Number 33 – read the current issue of A NEEDLE PULLING THREAD

Get a cup of tea, put up your feet, turn off the phone and grab the latest issue of A Needle Pulling Thread. In addition to some great projects for quilters, there are fashion show updates, a report on a quilt block challenge, and the rug hookers take on the Pan-Am Games.

In every issue, there are quilting, knitting, crochet, tatting, cross stitch projects and sew much more. Let’s face it –  how many of you are a ‘one craft person’? I thought so!

Number 32 – Learn to Zentangle

Zentangles are a fun way to express your creativity. For those of us who freak out at the thought of a blank page, the structured format of Zentangles provides you with guidelines to get you started. Once you get started, it’s hard to stop.

Plus, Zentangles are a great way to discover and practice free motion quilting designs!

There are many options to explore with the art of Zentangles. Try using a fabric pen and create the Zentangle on fabric. And if you really want to push the envelope, try using the sewing machine!

Number 31 – Visit a quilt store

You can never visit too many quilt stores. Besides it’s good to get out of the car and stretch your legs, clear your mind and do a little exploring! Don’t forget those rules for keeping everyone happy while you browse the shop.

Today’s shop is The Christmas Crab Quiltery in New Maryland, New Brunswick.
