Yesterday I showed you how to make the front of a cute Snowman cushion using a few fabric scraps backed with HeatnBond Featherlite fusible web. Here’s the link to the free Snowman design by Wendi Ganz of ShinyHappyWorld.com Now let’s finish the cushion.
Cushion Back
- Sew a narrow double-fold hem on 1 long edge of each 7½” x 10½” cushion back piece.
- Overlap the 2 pieces so you end up with a 10½” square.
- Place cushion front and back right sides together.
- Using a fabric marker, draw a line to mark the seam allowance on each corner.
- Trace around a small circle (I used a coin) to make a seam line for a rounded corner.
- Stitch all around the outside edges, following the curved lines on the corners.
- Trim excess fabric from corners.
- Turn cushion right side out and press.
Cushion Form
- Cut (2) 10½” squares from white cotton fabric for the cushion form cover.
- Place the squares right sides together.
- Draw lines to mark the rounded corners the same as you did for the cushion.
- Stitch all around, leaving a 5″ or 6″ opening.
- Turn right sides out.
- Stuff with Fairfield Poly-fil premium fiber fill.
- Stitch the opening closed by hand or machine.
- Place the cushion form inside the cushion. You might have to add a little more stuffing in the corners to fill them out.
I couldn’t resist using the other free Holiday designs from ShinyHappyWorld.com website, so now I have these five cute Holiday cushions!
I hope you’ll come back tomorrow to see what I’ve been doing with left-over scraps from fusible applique shapes.
