ColorWorks Concepts Quilting Fabric

I just received some wonderful ColorWorks Concepts fabric by Northcott! Last September, I posted about making modern-looking placemats by using a simple quilt block design and changing the size to “placemat size”. When I saw this new ColorWorks Concepts fabric, I wanted to make more placemats to try out some of the different ways to use this fabric. Placemats are just little quilts and they give you a great opportunity to experiment with new fabrics and techniques.

There are 7 different panels in the ColorWorks Concepts collection along with many coordinates and solids. You can have a look at all the fabrics here. You can also find out which quilt shop has these fabrics by using the Product Finder link at the top of this page on the Northcott website.

I chose the Soho panel to work with. I already made my Solar Flair quilt with this panel and in the last couple of months, Christine Baker used the same panel to make a tote bag and a small quilt. You can check out her blog postings here.

Now let’s make some placemats. You’ll also find out how to use these placemats as blocks and create a table topper, wall hanging or table runner. The possibilities are endless with this ColorWorks Concepts fabric!

Come back tomorrow and we’ll get started on ColorWorks Concepts placemat #1.
