How the MuVit dual feed foot of the BQ3050 helps your quilting efforts

Welcome back! Yesterday I made crazy quilt houses and finished the center of the table runner. Today I’ll add the borders and then use the MuVit dual-feed foot that comes with the Brother Innov-ís BQ3050 to do the quilting.

Add the borders

  • Measure the length of your house row and cut 2 strips 5″ (or your desired width) x that length for the top and bottom borders.
  • Sew on the top and bottom borders. You can use either of the ¼” feet for this seam – the one with the guide or the one without. If I’m not using pins for precise placement, I use the foot with the guide.

If I’m sewing something where I need to sew right up to the pin before removing the pin, I use the foot without the guide.

  • Measure the height of the row and cut 2 strips 5″ x that height for the side borders. Sew on the side borders.

Quilting

There are many options for quilting this project. Quilting in the ditch around the blocks and border would be a good place to start. The MuVit dual-feed foot allows you to do this very easily. Have a look at this video to see the MuVit foot in action.

There are 5 different feet for the dual feed foot, including a stitch in the ditch foot that makes this method almost foolproof.

Bonus! The MuVit dual feed foot comes with 5 different snap-on feet.

Many of the decorative stitches can also be used for quilting. I used the serpentine stitch in the snow at the bottom of the houses.

I love wide 5” x 11¼” workspace on the Brother BQ3050 machine when quilting!

So now my little table runner/wall hanging is all quilted, but I thought I should add some extra embellishment and practise some free motion quilting as well. Come back tomorrow to see how I went from this …
