After finishing the Happy Halloween door banner, I still had the strip that was cut off from the bottom of the panel. It was just the right size to use in a pillowcase.
Here’s what else you’ll need to make the pillowcase. Again, the fabrics are from the Northcott Happy Halloween collection.
1 – 10″ x 20½” lime green (Northcott ColorWorks 9000-710). I used the leftover green from the door banner.
Trim the leftover strip from the panel so it measures 8½” x 20½”.

From this piece cut 1 – 20½” x 32½”, 1 – 20½” x 21″ and 1 – 2½” x 20½”. See the cutting chart below.

Sew the 20½” x 21″ star print, panel strip, the 2½” x 20½” star strip and the 10″ green strip together. Press seams toward panel strip. See picture below.
Sew the strips for the pillowcase front.
Fold the 2½” star strip and the green strip over, so there’s ½” of star fabric showing on the wrong side of the pillowcase. Press.
Fold under the raw edge of the green so it just covers the seam from the panel strip. Pin in place.
Working from the right side, top-stitch on the seam lines and along the black lines on the panel strip.

Pillowcase Back (20½” x 32½” star print)
Using a removable fabric marker, draw lines ¼” and 2¼” from the top on the right side of the fabric. Fold on the lines and press. Top-stitch on the ¼” fold through all layers.
If necessary, trim the front and back so they’re the same size.

Sew the pillowcase front and back together, wrong sides together, using a scant ¼” seam.
TIP Use a walking (even-feed) foot to sew the pillowcase together. Don’t stitch across the top. Backstitch at the beginning and end to secure seams. Turn pillowcase wrong side out and press along the seam lines.
Using a generous ¼” seam, stitch along the sides and bottom. Backstitch at the beginning and end to secure seams. All raw edges will now be enclosed.
Turn right side out and press.
