This week’s tools and notions
materials
fabric
· ½ yd [0.46m] of dark fabric; depending on the width of the fabric, only ¼ yd [0.23m] may be required
· ¼ yd [0.23m] of light fabric
· 7” x 12” [18 x 30cm] of accent fabric
Fabric selection for the quilt
Today’s preparation will be quick and simple.
1. From the darker fabric cut five 8½” x 8½” squares.
2. From the lighter fabric cut four 8½” x 8½” squares.

Note: All seams for this project are ¼”.
3. Sew three dark fabrics to three light fabrics.
Sew light to dark fabric.
4. Use two of the pairs from Step 3 to sew a dark fabric to the lighter fabric. Make two rows.

5. Using the remaining pair from step one, sew a light fabric to the darker fabric.

6. Sew the rows from steps 4 and 5 together to make a large nine-patch.

7. Download the PDF for the free Christmas in July quilt pattern.
8. Roughly cut around the tree shape and apply some ODIF 505 Temporary Adhesive Glue Stick.
Note: As seen in the next photo, the glue is blue when applying the adhesive. The color will disappear and it will not discolor the fabric nor leave a residue.
Apply Odif 505 to the paper template.
9. Before the glue dries place the tree template on the wrong side of the background fabric.
Lay the Christmas tree template on the wrong side of the fabric.
10. Use a pair of scissors suited for both paper and fabric such as the INFINITI Tailor Scissors – 81⁄4″ (21cm) to cut around the tree shape.

11. Repeat steps 9 and 10, until 4 trees are cut.
Christmas trees for the quilt
As mentioned at the start, this post was quick and easy! A few seams, a bit of cutting and done for the day. Join me tomorrow as I attach the trees to the quilt top using ODIF 606 No-sew Fusible Adhesive Web.
