On Monday and Tuesday of this week, I talked about Odif 505 Temporary Adhesive Glue Stick and Odif 606 No-sew Fusible Adhesive Web – Pouch Format 60g to make myself a small Christmas in July table topper. Both products were easy to use and have proven their worth.
Today’s find is Odif Iron Cleaner – Pouch Format 60g. Yes, Odif now makes an iron cleaner!
Odif Iron Cleaner
I always have at least two irons on the go. In this case, I use the OLISO PROTM TG1600 Pro Plus Smart Iron – Turquoise on the right for pressing fabrics and clothes. The older model on the left I use when working with spray starches, iron-on interfacings or any products that may stick to the sole plate.

Even if the iron on the left is for specific reasons as mentioned above, I still clean the sole plate from time to time. Today is the day.

Odif iron cleaner how-to instructions
Keeping the cleaning instructions in mind I got an old facecloth. Due to the small size of the facecloth, I placed a scrap piece of quilt batting onto a wool ironing pad. I then smeared some Odif Iron cleaner on the facecloth.

With the iron warmed up, I placed the iron onto the cleaning paste and moved the iron back and forth.

For any fussy spots, I made a ball with the old facecloth and batting and put a dab of Odif Iron Cleaner on it.
Preparing to clean a stubborn spot.
I took the facecloth ball and rubbed it in a circular motion while applying some force.

During the cleaning process don’t be surprised if there’s some light smoke. There may also be a light smell, nothing compared to other cleaning products I’ve used before.
Once the cleaning is complete, use a clean piece of batting, or you can use a clean old towel, to press using a lot of heat and steam, going back and forth to remove any remaining residue.
A clean sole plate
Do not dispose of irons with a bit of guck on the sole plate. With a little Odif Iron Cleaner – Pouch Format 60g with a little elbow grease a dirty sole plate can become like new.
