Spring Blossoms for Mom lap quilt

By now we’re all tired of winter and wanting to look toward spring. It’ll come be rest assured. At this time of the year we’re also thinking about projects for spring and of course, I’m thinking ahead to Mother’s Day.

Join me this week as I share with you a new original design for a modern, strip pieced and easy applique lap quilt that can be made just for mom. I’ll be showing how to assemble easy strip pieced blocks, how to applique simply with Heatnbond Lite iron-on adhesive and Gütermann invisible nylon thread and how to bind neatly by machine to make a gorgeous cozy lap quilt aptly named Spring Blossoms for Mom.

Mother’s Day is one of those holidays that creeps up on you and gifts for Mom are especially hard to shop for. I get kind of confused about the many ideas out there and can’t for the life of me, decide on what to buy. Making a handmade gift is sure to eliminate this confusion.

There’s time now to get started and be finished making this quilt in time for Mother’s Day.

Oh and yes… there’s a link for a free pattern download (tulip applique) in the materials list below.

This quilt would also be a great quilt for a little girl or baby gift. Tuck it away and be ready for gift giving.

I decided I’m making this as a Mother’s Day gift as a mother is like a quilt, each one is beautiful and unique!

Now you know what materials to gather, follow along this week as I share how to make this pretty quilt. Tomorrow, I’ll discuss preparing and cutting the fabric. Spring will be in my studio.

Happy Monday.
