Yesterday I created the oversize shoofly quilt block. This will be the background to which I’ll add the appliques.
Today I’ll trace the sign shapes onto fusible adhesive in preparation for applique tomorrow. There’s a lot to get through today so let’s get started!
- HeatnBond Lite iron-on adhesive
- Lightbox if you have one, or a window
- paper scissors
- fabric scissors
- downloadable free PDF pattern for Sewing Happens Here!
Of course, you may choose to create your sign by hand applique.
You’ll find ALL the pattern pieces for the Sewing Happens Here project in the link under materials above. I’ve also placed a few below.
Please note that all the applique shapes have been reversed for you.
Now to the steps…
Using a lightbox (or window) and a pencil, trace the applique shapes onto the paper side of the HeatnBond Lite.
Cut out applique pieces approximately ¼” outside the pencil line.
Fuse pieces to the back of fabric following the package instructions.
Cut applique shape out following the pencil line… more or less.
Ta-da! Now repeat this process with all the applique pieces.
Tomorrow I’ll take all the shapes prepared today and applique them to the shoofly block background.
Take a bow, have a rest… that was a lot of work!
