This will probably be one of the easiest quilts I’ve made to date. With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, there’s no time like the present to make one featuring a four-leaf clover.
My four-leaf clover quilt measures 19” x 19”.

Tools used to make the four-leaf clover quilt

- 1 – 13” x 13” piece of green fabric or 25 – 3” x 3” pieces of green fabric for the four-leaf clover applique
- ½ yd [46cm] for background and backing
- 2 – 2½” strips x width of fabric for binding
- a FQ size batting
Although it may be quicker to use a single piece of fabric to make the four-leaf clover, I decided to piece mine together. To save time, I went looking in a scrap bin for 25 green 3” x 3” squares. I actually found enough 3” squares for two four-leaf clovers, but I’m only making one.

Sewing needles are one of the most important tools. Always use quality needles such as the SCHMETZ Piecing & Quilting Needles. These needles are specially designed for piecing and quilting.

Separate the 25 green 3” squares and sew them in rows of five. Then, press the seams to one side.
With all seams, press each of the strips together as shown below.

As the strips are being nested, ensure the strips are pinned using HEIRLOOM Crystal Head Pins. They’re long and thin and will hold the pieces nicely together.
Pin nested seams tighter prior to sewing.
After the pinning is done, sew the seams.
Repeat the above step until all five strips are sewn together to create a 25 patch. The back of the 25-patch square will have the seams of each row going in opposite directions.
All rows sewn together with seams nested.
