Machine quilting hearts with WonderFil’s Tutti thread

by Christine Baker

Yesterday on QUILTsocial, I showed you 3 versatile designs to machine quilt with Fabulux thread from WonderFil. Today, I’m going to machine quilt the Valentine’s Day tablerunner that I made last month on QUILTsocial. The tablerunner was made using a jelly roll, and I embellished it with felted wool hearts that were appliqued and embroidered with Eleganza thread. Today, I’m going to show you how I machine quilt heart designs with WonderFil’s Tutti thread.

The last time I used WonderFil’s Tutti thread on QUILTsocial, I did some really fun thread painting, so I was using it on my home machine. This time, I’m going to load it onto my Gammill and try it for machine quilting. The variegated pink that WonderFil sent to me looks like it will work well with the pinks in the tablerunner.

WonderFil Threads – Tutti

In love with hearts

I have to admit it, I’m crazy about hearts! As a result, many of my quilt patterns end up with heart designs on them and many times when I’m quilting, hearts will make their way onto the quilt. And really, for a Valentine’s Day tablerunner, what other machine quilting design would I use??? Hearts can be used in lots of different ways for machine quilting, so I decided to make a little video showing how I used them to quilt my tablerunner.

In this video Christine Baker of Fairfield Road Designs demonstrates how to machine quilt hearts on a Valentine’s table runner using WonderFil’s Tutti thread.

Here’s a close up of the designs that I used on the table runner. I’m so happy that I finally got this project quilted even though I didn’t make it in time for Valentine’s Day! I’ll put it away and debut it next year!!

Tomorrow I’ll be showing you some great overall designs that I use all the time when I’m quilting – see you then!

Thanks Rachel! It does take lots of practice but it’s lots of fun too!
