I’m so excited to present Block 8 as it’s a completely different layout! I love its look and hope you enjoy making it. Some will be happy to know there are no Flying Geese in this block! I really can’t wait to see the final project with all 12 blocks! Almost there… right? QAL2020 – Spectrum Block 8 Outline of Spectrum Block 8 Here are the cutting instructions for Block 8 of the QAL 2020 using the Little Girl in the Blue Armchair collection from Anthology Fabrics. The Little Girl in the Blue Armchair collection by Anthology Fabrics Step 1 Take your D2 squares and, on the wrong side of the fabric, mark a solid line diagonally in the center as well as two dotted lines at ¼” on each side of the center line. Align a D1 square with a D2 square, right side together, and stitch together on both dotted lines. Cut on the solid line. Press the seams to the darkest fabric and open. Makes a 2½” square (trim off excess). Repeat to make 4. Step 1 Step 2 Take your D3 squares and, on the wrong side of the fabric, mark a solid line diagonally in the center as well as two dotted lines at ¼” on each side of the center line. Align a D1 square with a D3 square, right sides together, and stitch together on both dotted lines. Cut on the solid line. Press the seams to the darkest fabric and open. Makes a 2½” square (trim off excess). Repeat to make 4. Step 2 Step 3 Stitch 2 Step 1 to a Step 2. Makes a rectangle size 2½” x 6½”. Repeat to make 2 units. Step 3 Step 4 Stitch 2 Step 2 to your F unit. Makes a rectangle size 2½” x 6½”. Step 4 Step 5 Stitch 2 Step 3 to a Step 4. Makes a 6½” square. Step 5 Step 6 Stitch 2 B triangles to an E unit. For accurate sewing, align corner or triangle with corner of square. Repeat to make 4. Step 6 Step 7 Stitch 2 C triangles to a Step 6 unit. For accurate sewing, mark your ¼” seam allowance and position corner of Step 6 to align on edge of seam allowance. Makes a 3½” x 6½” rectangle (Trim off excess). Repeat to make 4. Step 7A Step 7B Step 7C Step 7D You’re almost done! You can now align all your units on the design wall! Setting your block Step 8 Stitch 2 Step 7 units to Step 5 unit. Makes a 6½” x 12½” rectangle. Step 8 Step 9 Stitch 2 A squares to a Step 7 unit. Makes a 3½” x 12½” rectangle. Repeat to make 2. Step 9 Step 10 Stitch 2 Step 9 units to your Step 8 unit. Makes a 12½” square.
